The subtle and overt racism of the Republican Party is a stench they have to live with, and no amount of history rewriting by Republican apologists such as those in the NBRA can eradicate that smell.

As for Martin Luther King supposedly being a Republican, the evidence does not support that. He did not endorse anyone for president in 1960, while his dad, King Sr., supported Democrat JFK. King Jr. was close to the Kennedys, especially Robert Kennedy, who actively supported the civil rights movement. There weren't many white Republican politicians in the streets supporting the civil rights movement back then. That was a big reason why RFK was assassinated the same year as King.
