You have no idea. And no one is telling them anything as to why they are sick. It was used in the ‘Desert Storm’ in 1991 and also in Serbia. It cannot be cleaned up; the particles are nano sized and penetrate every known gas mask protection suit ever devised. Oh and its half life is only 4.5 billion years, just about as long as the earth has been currently available for life and about as long as the earth will be around before our sun goes nova.
You thought perhaps that the Vietnam ‘Agent Orange’ was bad? Wait till this begins to go public. And just to show you how impartial I am about all this, sitting comfortably in my flat in southern England - in Australia and England the levels of background radiation has risen substantially in recent years because the dust gets blown round the world. (The Sahara sands get to be the beaches of Bermuda, in a recent Discovery Channel documentary.)
