Now add to that mix an erstwhile US backed possible replacement. A popular populist harkening back to true democratic days. So what then is a dictator to do? Dictators by their very nature respond poorly to competition, especially competition foisted on them by outsiders. So what would be the logical solution to a gun toting general who came to power with bullets when confronted by a single populist leader foisted upon him by a foreign power seeking to manipulate him.

To the American media myth manufacturers Musharraf is a democratically elected President of Pakistan. Their belief in his Presidency is unshakeable but inside the corridors of American power the blowback is as obvious to the administration as it is embarrassing. An American funded dictator has murdered an American backed political rival and they won’t believe Musharraf’s claims of innocence any more than I do. The administration has remained for the most part silent, what can they say? They’ve been outsmarted yet again; the dog has broken his leash. But ask Manuel Noriega what happens when you double cross Uncle Sam? Ask Saddam Hussein what happens to those who don’t follow orders.

Musharraf is counting on two factors, Bhutto was a cult of personality not a movement, without Bhutto the opposition is rudderless. Number two is the calendar, that Bush’s time in office is almost up and that they need Musharraf too much to replace him. Islamic extremism is now being used to Musharraf’s advantage, turning his failure to control tribal homelands into his life insurance policy.

But Musharraf’s violation of the leash law won’t be forgotten or forgiven. The media myth makers will begin now to tell us of his failures. His white cowboy hat will darken almost overnight just as Noriega’s and Saddam’s did. He will be vilified from a democratic President to brutal thug just as soon as we have someone trustworthy waiting in the wings to replace him.

The intense sadness of all this is that the will of the Pakistani people is thwarted by murder and thuggery and it cannot be disguised. But in its obviousness and the media cover up it give us opportunity to expose the media myth makers for the frauds that they are. Frauds by omission and misdirection. Ignoring obvious facts with government sponsored propaganda.

But who can blame them for trying?

They convinced a nation that Bush was lawfully elected, twice! That a man shot from behind will have his brains fly out the back of his head and that buildings hit at high speed will cause prestressed concrete to dissolve into powder and steel to melt like butter.

I have a greater faith in Penn and Teller than in the American media. No better than the Soviet Tass news agency or the Voelkischer Beobachter only the news that fits the government agenda. The last great manufacturing facilities in America, the lie factories.
