Azzouzi was born in Minnesota and raised a Lutheran. She reverted to Islam nearly 8 years ago after studying the religion for many years. She lives with her husband and their two sons. She and her family have been members of the ICM for two years now. Azzouzi notes, "What I like most about the ICM is having a place where my children can come and be surrounded by other Muslim children. They hear about the same values we teach at home and hopefully they can build a strong foundation for their life. I also like that they have a place to meet other children who are learning to forge an identity as American Muslims."
