Silliness

OK, let's assume, for the moment, that you get your wish, and sweep out every Democrat who does not support impeachment, replacing them with Democrats who do.

The next Congress will take office on January 3, 2009 -- and President Bush's term ends on January 20, 2009.  Do you somehow think that you are going to impeach and remove President Bush from office during the last seventeen days of his term?

not as silly as you think

The New Broom Coalition (NBC) is putting incumbents on notice that they'd better start voting for impeachment, or they'll be OUT!  This strategy works NOW!  It's already changed the energy of the country- we're going on the offensive, rather than simply lamenting the onrushing of fascism and WW III.  As the energy shifts, our chances of getting to Congress improve.

Even if we vote for impeachment AFTER Bush and Cheney leave office, it will negate the precedents they have set for the "unitary executive" and restore the balance of powers among the branches of government.

 Peace, Carol Wolman

Much sillier

I went to the New Broom Coalition's website, and to their mission statement, where they said that they would:

continue the process after they leave office.

Perhaps the Coalition members have never actually read the Constitution, but the impeachment power is limited to trial and removal from office, and disqualification from ever holding another federal office.  Once President Bush and Vice President Cheney have left office, there's nothing the Congress can do to them -- unless they plan to pass a Bill of Attainder, which is also unconstitutional.
