While Rossi would love to inherit Didier votes in the November election, he knows what the consequences would be among the independents he needs to defeat Senator Murray by supporting Didier's abortion position.
There are other thorny issues for Republicans as well in senate races with Tea Party activists Rand Paul in Kentucky, Sharron Angle in Nevada, and Ken Buck in Colorado taking positions that have caused Democrats to attack with glee and assert that the Republicans have become captives of right wing Tea Party extremists.
Today Democratic strategist James Carville issued an e-mail seeking financial support for his party to counter what he termed Republican extremism. He cites what he calls the "Triumvirate of Tea" consisting of Angle, Buck and Paul.
