“What’s one to do when scientists and political leaders demonstrate their understanding of the fact that overpopulation is the main cause of these gigantic global problems (collapsing fisheries, ozone hole, air pollution, acidification of our oceans via human pollution, dead zones in our oceans, species extinction, 18 million humans die of starvation annually, loss of rainforests….), yet the scientists’ recommendations for dealing with the problems never call for addressing overpopulation?”

In the past 25 years, I heard Dr. Bartlett’s brilliant lecture on ‘exponential growth’. He presents his lecture to hundreds of thousands around the country. He spellbinds audiences! His presentation shows where everything looks ‘okay’ up until the point where a species cannot save itself.

Whether you think humans or natural cycles create global warming, that’s not important. Humans, growing at 77 million net gain annually on their way from 6.7 billion to 9.8 billion on a finite planet--create cause and effect on every environmental system on our planet home—destructively.

As citizens on this blue/green globe out in the black void of space, I encourage you to stand up, speak out and make your voice heard during the presidential elections. Since we continue as a stable society, we must change course on what causes our demographic Katrina. It’s up to us, it’s up to you!
