Specious
reasoning: it has not come forth that James Holmes ever participated in Occupy
Wall Street.
And perhaps Jerry
Newcomb of the AFA and Truth
in Action Ministries delivered
the most heartless slap of all to some of the victims:
If a Christian dies early, if a
Christian dies young, it seems tragic, but really it is not tragic because they
are going to a wonderful place. On the other hand, if a person doesn't know
Jesus Christ, if they knowingly rejected Jesus Christ, then, basically, they
are going to a terrible place."
In other words, only the true Christians went to heaven while all
others went to hell.
Not to be outdone by Newcomb, Bryan
Fischer of the hate group American Family Association has also decided to weigh in :
...on the tragic shooting in Colorado with a column citing none
other than David Barton to make the case that it was the removal of prayer and
the Ten Commandments from our public schools that is the cause of this shooting
and everything else bad that is happening in America, so it is high time to
stop letting "the left" destroy this nation.
The Phelps Klan Deflated
The braggadocio of Fred Phelps' Wstboro Baptist Church was expected:
A human "wall" was set up at the Aurora prayer vigil to foil Phelps'
emotional vandalism, but the group did not appear. Although this was one of the
numerous times the group has made threats for which it has not followed-up, it
does show the extent to which "Virtuous" Vultures will be tolerated:
insults can be hurled at the country at large, but physically insulting victims
has not yet garnered significant approval.... yet.
Lost Irony
The shooting missed by one day the anniversary
of the Oslo massacre conducted by Anders Behring Breivik. The scope of the
carnage was slightly larger than that of the Batman Shooting: 8 deaths in the
bombing of government buildings and 69 deaths at the Workers Youth League
camp. The Christian philosophy of Breivik, however, was at the core of the shootings:
Breivik described himself in
online posts as a cultural conservative and a Christian conservative who felt
that Protestantism had lost its way and that Christianity should recombine
under the banner of a reconstituted and traditionalist Catholic Church. These
views are almost identical to the views of the late Pau Weyrich, founder of the
Christian Right epicenter in the United States, the Free Congress Foundation.
