I know it’s tradition for the president to take the oath of office by swearing his fidelity to the Constitution on a bible. I don’t care if the president swears on a stack of bibles or a stack of dictionaries; they contain all the words that are in any religion’s bible, and I would prefer a dictionary be used. It’s not the swearing-in book that’s important; it’s being faithful to the oath to protect and defend the Constitution. George W. Bush could have sworn to protect the Constitution on a library filled with bibles, and it still wouldn’t meant a damn thing; in spite of the oath and its beautiful words he did everything he could to destroy that precious document that binds us together and makes us unique in the world.
Barack, reverse this unwise decision and un-invite that rotten, twisted, narrow-minded, gay-hating, science-hating, separation of church and state-hating Rick Warren, who stands against everything most of us hold dear, and who thinks all of us will go to hell if we don’t obey his twisted commands.
We aren’t the ones who will go to hell; Rick Warren and all of his kind of all religions will.
There is a nameplate over the gates to hell with his name on it, and it can’t wait for him to step over the threshold.
