When I read that in 1990 I thought how curious it was that a man behind the Iron Curtain could understand so well what so many Americans had forgotten. But then I remembered that the most difficult thing for a Codfish to discover is saltwater.
So, what is the difference? Why were so many being starved and murdered under those foreign regimes while we lived in relative safety? In a word, Christianity! Under secular governments the State is elevated over the individual. In a Christian civilization the individual is elevated over the State. One brings slavery, the other brings liberty. Which would you prefer?
