My generation rioted in the streets for several years and received several significant civil rights measures and Medicare. Much of this came from the legislative genius of Lyndon Johnson. We rewarded his achievement with endless vilification about Vietnam.
After we trashed our President, we earned the forty-year reign of moral midgets. Our education system gutted, we give our children instruction rated as 12th in the world. (Kazakhstani children rate fifth. Tiny Armenia produces the world chess champions.) Few Americans can explain the superiority of single payer health insurance. Fewer than that number understands how Wall Street looted our country.
