It is also the one-year anniversary of the fall of Lehman Brothers and the beginning of the financial crisis, which occurred when Pluto originally went in Capricorn. Now Pluto is back to where it started and we can see how Wall Street has steadfastly refused to learn from its mistakes. We need a new financial system where banks and corporations ARE NOT too big to fail. We can see the stubborn refusal to change both on Wall Street and Main Street. When thousands march in Washington to stop health care reform that will benefit them, it's time for the spiritually aware to step into the world and show our strength. We need to be marching on Washington to bring the troops home, to change our health care system, to promote clean energy, to save the environment and to bring down the old model of corporate capitalism. You'll see more of this in the coming year!

A reader sent me this question:
The Mayans have predicted the end of the world by 2011 (grim picture, sorry about this!) and astronomers have talked about an alignment of all planets in that same year, with the poles reversing on Planet Earth and the Earth tilting on its axis in a new direction. Is this astrologically true, and if yes, what is your analysis of it? I would appreciate your word here, and maybe some other people might have questions about this too. (This has got to be the darkest time we have ever seen in America. . .)
The simple answer is this:
There have been many times when many planets align -- they do not affect the Earth's balance.
As for 2012. The Maya were incredible astronomers. And they passed this knowledge down for millennia. What they left us is a picture of the end of different cycles.
One of the cycles ending on December 21, 2012 is a 5,000 years cycle that started around 3113 BC. Other smaller cycles (260-day calendar) will also end on that day. But these cycles will begin again as soon as they finish. Because it is a cycle -- one that repeats over a long period of time. Life to death to life again.
The other thing the Mayan calendar documents is that 2012 (although scholars feel we've been in it since around 1980) marks the end of the 26,000 year zodiacal cycle, meaning that we are starting a new Great Year. There are other systems that mark these years as ones of great change -- evolution and growth -- of humanity and the Earth.
We are aligning with the center of our galaxy, the womb of our universe. 2012 could bring us disasters, but "it ain't necessarily so'. Yes, we do have to deal with global warming (which might be part natural, part human induced); we have to deal with Pluto in Capricorn (as the American colonists did before the American revolution) calling on us to transform our culture and its institutions and until we do we'll deal with the hypocrisy, greed and violence of our cultural conditioning; we have to deal with the over-population of the Earth; we have to deal with depleting resources; we have to deal with the inequality of the sexes as well as the inequality of rich vs. poor.
Yes, we have lots of work to do to create a peaceful and prosperous world for everyone. But it's our CHOICE. Perhaps there will be an incident that could spark a world war, or a meteor might potentially come into our atmosphere and destroy us. OR NOT. It's how we meet our future that will determine if we have a future.
