Ultimately, The Breakup and Partition Of Ukraine May Be the Only Viable Solution to Ending the Crisis

In the coup precipitated by western paid sympathizers that overthrew Yanukovych it also included the ultra nationalist, neo Nazi "Right Sector" group, a virulent anti-Russian, anti-Jewish militant organization that are direct descendents of Ukrainians who fought with Nazi Germany in W.W. II and took an active part in the Holocaust.

So with this western promoted coup and talk of liberating Ukraine from the corrupt Yanukovych and the subsequent Russia bashing for its actions in Crimea, there is the larger picture to consider.

As we all know Russia is second only to the U.S. with its arsenal of nuclear weapons and ICBM missiles. A U.S. and western war with Russia would be insane.

To this writer, 2014 is somewhat reminiscent of 1914 prior to the outbreak of W.W.I. Defense alliances with allies proliferated at the time but also with adversaries replete with their own agreements. These pacts were written in such a way where an allied country was attacked militarily, its allies would be obligated to come to its support.

Yet at the time any outbreak of war was not seriously contemplated by any of the adversaries, but with these alliances in place the assassination of a minor Archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary by a Serbian separatist in Sarajevo became the catalyst that unleashed the "Great War".

Only in 1914 no country possessed nuclear weapons which is not the case one hundred years later.

And significantly, no country with nuclear weapons has ever gone to war directly against another nuclear power. That has been the ultimate deterrent and why countries like North Korea developed nuclear weapons as their deterrent from being attacked.

So there will be much harrumphing in the Congress over Putin's move into Crimea and consternation by the Obama administration intoning "There will be costs,"- ironically this from the country that illegally and pre-emptively invaded and occupied Afghanistan and Iraq based on lies and done more to de-stabilize the Middle East with its idiotic neo-conservative ploys pushing for regime change.

From here, there is nothing the U.S. can effectively do, short of doing the un-thinkable and initiating a war against another nuclear power.

Ukraine is a basket case. A likely result is a political breakup of the country. Referendums have been proposed in the south and east of the country calling for separation with Ukraine and merging with Russia leaving Ukraine west of the Dnieper River and the capital Kiev becoming its new geographic area.

That may be the only viable solution that can end the crisis and bring stability without resorting to an insane war.
