Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

We don't share anymore. We don't pull together. We don't want anyone to get more than us. Get in front of us. Get anywhere near us.

We allow ourselves to be pulled apart, by status, wealth, religion and trumped up "social issues."

We allow some few to legally steal from us. Then give them more and more until there is nothing left.

No social morality. No shame. We are left with crumbs from the table, and ashes from the fireplace.

My ultimate question is... Just what are we willing to do about it?

I, for one, have been actively practicing my civic duty by writing, petitioning, calling, visiting my elected representative. You can toss in a few marches in Washington for good measure.

I have campaigned for candidates and voted for those who most closely held my vision of my country. And have been dissapointed time and again as the votes went to deregulation and rewards for  the rulers and repression of  the population.

Ultimately, to no avail. And from  financial deal to corporate deal I have watched our commons starved of the support required to keep them functioning and fruitful.

It is time to remind government that the people rule here. Not the corporations. Nor the banks, nor the politicians.

We are perilously close to finishing our cake (and have the diabetes to prove it). The bread is more expensive, and the circus is leaving town.

Tea into the harbor. When the barricades go up, we go to the barricades. When we are poor enough, when there is little left to take from us. When there is no "Hope" and when there is no "Change"--we,  like others before us, will take it back.

Faith Carr is a 57 year old, retired political activist. Started farming so we can continue to eat as the economic realities set in. When the revolution starts I'll bring the eats.
