Finally, I challenge anyone to dispute the fact that no single person in modern United States history has done more in so short a time to restore America's global honor and prestige than Barack Obama. By electing America's first Black president 43 percent of white voters said "yea" to him and embraced his call for change. In electing him to the most powerful office in the world a coalition of white, Black, Hispanic and Asian peoples were not only inspired by him, but looked beyond the politics of dark pigmentation and believed that he was the person to bring peace to the world.

Admittedly, this latter is a very tall order but Americans should rally behind their president and not buy into the sour grapes acts of the Right-wing coalition. It was and is indeed very unfortunate that the Republicans and other backward-thinking groups sought to denigrate this very important award to our first Black president. One Fox News commentator called the Nobel Prize "tainted" and another one wallowed in the gutter to ask if the Prize Committee was pursuing "a policy of affirmative action" -- in other words Obama got the Prize only because he is Black.

Such acerbic drivel from people who are supposed to educate and inform the public has made this TV station the official mouth-piece for the right and ultra-right with barely concealed racist overtones. That any responsible and sensible TV journalist would sully the impeccable record of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee by suggesting that Blacks who won the Nobel Peace Prize before President Barack Obama were inferior to whites and therefore had to get in by some affirmative action is offensive, racist and vividly explains the degree of degeneration that the mainstream media and this particular station has sunk to in recent times.

This rabble-rousing, right-wing cheer leading crowd ought to be ashamed of themselves. It is this crowd that cheered and sicked President Bush and the neocon's rush to war against a country that has never did America anything. It is this cowardly crowd that consistently gloats and glorifies its bullying and beating up of small, defenseless nations by "kicking their butt" that is largely responsible for the bitter hateful feelings towards Americans around the world -- especially in the Muslim world - that Obama is trying to heal.

But even for this loud-mouthed, vindictive and unintelligent group its unwarranted and unfair criticism and ridicule of Obama and the Nobel Peace Prize Committee is a new low -- even by their snake-belly standards. This asinine and silly spectacle and braggadocio -- regurgitated daily -- is sickening and ultimately does very little to rebuild the tattered image, respect and honor utterly destroyed by the Bush Administration and his enablers in the media.
