Wage slavery thrived as employers siphoned off the productivity increases of labor. Consequently, the wives had to join the labor force and families had to borrow just to break even. They became slaves to their debts.

So far, the forces of reaction have stymied the Obama initiatives

We remain stalled in Iraq and mired in Afghanistan. The Fed made $2 trillions disappear. The financial sector runs amok unchecked by any standard. The health insurance industry owns the Senate.

If the reactionaries continue to stifle organized labor, the worker/consumer won't have a ladder to climb out of the deep dark hole of recession.
