The Center of Gravity

Yep, Obama and his White House guru Rahm
Emmanuel evidently assumed that labor, and progressives were the far
left.

What??

LABOR is the far left??

So I guess within this
logic, that management is the center??

Now that's what they'd have you
believe; that common working folk are liberals and owners and managers were the
mainstream of America.

That's what they want you to believe, that
business and labor are antagonistic and that business, ownership and management
are center of gravity and the LABOR is the outlier.

Excuse my French, but
Bullshit! There is no other way to say it than that, and I apologize in advance
for having to be so blunt.

Since 1980, there has been a fight in the
media and packaging to transfer the old center of gravity of America - the
FAMILY into the new target - Business.

In the 70s, I fought a lot of the
preliminary battles as an Economic Development Representative for the Economic
Development Administration's network. This was a masked attempt at demonizing
labor and especially organized labor. It was an early attempt to break the back
of the powerful labor unions and that's all it really was.

But
establishing business as the new center of gravity; establishing that labor is
far left and business and ownership is center of gravity (rather than far right
as logic would the imply); or that business was actually more important than
Family was and is simply outrageously political and damaging.

Is it any
wonder that the outcomes are a breakdown within the family unit?

Oh, I
know that the excuse will be that the radical leftists of the 60s were the root
of the downfall of the family, or that the downturn in the percentage of
Americans who went to church on Sunday fed this decline in our "society"; as if
it did. But the truth is, that logic would then align business and religion as
the good guys and all else as the demons.

You see the problem with
that.

Now let me get back to today. How does this impact us
today?

President Obama used the progressive American movement as his
coach to get through the primaries and get elected. But this morning he will
face the AFL-CIO and ask them and the progressives to take "one more for the
team" on healthcare. He will posture by saying he "favors" a public option, but
then back away from them after the heat is off and assume that they and we will
not react forcefully. President Obama has assumed that he was "Given" a mandate
and that it's his to own and do with as he pleases. But the new politic that is
forming is not only on the right as he has assumed and backed down to, but is
forming militantly on the progressive side as well.

The outcome of the
President's action of cowering to the right in the name of bipartisanship and
discarding the progressive base and the source of the nation's mandate is a bad
healthcare bill that empowers the insurance companies with a new forced customer
base against not only individuals but also small businesses; a new customer base
of thirty-six plus million new customers. There will be no regulation on price,
or product delivery. It will be just a new boondoggle that will be subsidized
by the American Taxpayer - and that primary taxpayer is not business or
corporations but instead is labor, and family based employees.
