Get ready for at least two years of a sluggish economy, maybe even a depression, divisive tactics and partisan politics. Prepare to watch the President of the United States being dragged through the mud day in and day out. Expect inaction on financial reform, climate change, immigration reform and any number of issues that matter to each and every one of us. Sit back and watch Gilded Age disparity between the rich and poor in this country get bigger and bigger and bigger. Have fun while we watch our country descend into a Banana Republic, this time we'll probably deserve it, because we should have known better but we didn't.

The poet Dot Devota said in a recent interview: "My poetry is my sex."

Well politics is my sex. And I've seen this GOP bed partner before. We all have. We already know it's a bad decision. We already know the end result. But it looks like we're about to jump in bed and make this mistake again. This isn't the first time we've bought these smooth lines before.

This isn't the first time we've been screwed.

It won't be any better than the last time either.
