Ultimately, Sarah Palin, is indeed a new kind of political morality heroine for the middle class.
Giving credit where credit is due, Sarah Palin, This is Your Life— Hollywood-style
Childhood and College {(palin, fur)]Daniel Boone (1964) Palin’s movie would open with an unemotional sense of her practical family values and conservationism. As a young child single-handedly shooting a moose; gutting and skinning the animal, as her father proudly guides her. At nightfall, we’d see her back at home under candle light expertly sewing together a lovely fur moose-skin shoulder wrap and matching cap more fashionably than Fess Parker could have. And, she didn’t have to be bothered with any of that patriotic shooting of immigrants (that is, Native American Indians) that Boone did for his Westward Expansion..
Hoosiers (1986)
Like all heroes, as the Wasilla High School basketball captain, nicknamed the Barracuda, for her sense of the kill, Sarah shot the winning free throw for the 1982 Alaskan Small-School Championship. Like no mere mortal, from a school called the Home of the Warriors, she grin- and- bared the pain of a torn ligament, bandaged with polar bear blubber salve.
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005) Sure, Sarah was only a Miss Alaska, 1st Runner Up, but that just shows she can handle being second place with her fabulous Miss Congeniality Award smile. This segment of the movie shows not only what a talented babe Sarah is, earning a college scholarship, But in her talent competition, as ice-fishing would not be possible on stage, she played the flute, as a coming attraction of her understated pied-piper political line of attack.
Early Career and FamilyAnchorwoman (TV, reality 2007) as a former beauty contestant with a BA in journalism, Sarah logically embarks on her career as a junior TV sportscaster, but stays for only a short time, deciding that she was going to become President her own way, by being the first fisherwoman president; to do otherwise would take away from Ronald Reagan’s humble radio sports announcer beginnings in Des Moines.
Norma Rae (1979) Palin proudly states that she had been a union member married to a union member. Her husband, Todd, is a United Steel Workers Union member, and as a fisherwoman her union affiliation might have been with one of the Alaskan Fishermen’s unions. Her father was a teacher, also presumably union. Since she’s mentioning it, that must mean her politics are for fair wages, equal pay, child care, all corporate accountability, fair housing, fair trade …. for starters, right? Wonder what she thinks about that lesbian theme in Silkwood?
The Mighty Ducks (1992, 1994,1996) This beloved trilogy follows Sarah, the hockey mom, as she caravans her brood to their games throughout each of her Wasilla city-council terms and at the beginning of her first mayoral term. While she’s governor, Todd takes over basketful and soccer car-pooling duties, but does not get a movie named for him.
(oh wait a second, Mr. Mom. Another chance for Sarah Palin to thank liberal feminists for paving her way)
Tesoro Iron Dog- the World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race (documentary, date unknown)
Todd not only wins Iron Dogs, NASCAR for the snow-bound, he delayed his own victory by ensuring a broken-ribbed competitor was brought to safety. He is The Wind Beneath (Sarah’s) Wings . And yes, you are being one of those “typical liberals” if your mind wandered for an instant about how snowmobiles consume gas and cause community displacement (loud noise) according to the local Alaska Quiet Rights Coalition.
Amelia (2009) Palin’s Northern Exposure floatplane experience is another notch of gutsiness for The Right Stuff flight plan to the White House. Just as the upcoming Hillary Swank movie focuses on Earhart’s early career and her selection to be the first woman to fly a trans-Atlantic flight, Palin’s movie shows us her stamina and smarts, as we see her caught force-landing in a storm, pregnant, missing for hours and surviving on pure determination, emergency food stuffs, blankets, a two-way radio and cell phone that gets her a just-in-time rescue—because prepared hockey moms are like that.
Life Goes On – (1989-93 TV series). Sarah and Todd’s personal decision to knowingly give birth to a baby with a disabling genetic disorder will set an example for American families to handle their own challenges with the same inner fortitude. If elected, all single Americans will be strongly encouraged to marry their childhood sweethearts, create a strong network of extended family, renting actors as grandparents and siblings, if they’re not readily available. The men will cook, clean, chauffer the children, and be strong and silent, while the women will hunt, fish and pose for magazines and glory (hey, there’s something appealing in that).
Early Political careerRun Lola Run (1998) not only has she been a 5k and 10k runner since high school, but she’s done a marathon, as well. It’s kind of a campaign strategy. Run from city council to small town mayor to sparsely populated new state Governor and then launch a populist VP campaign nomination 2- months in office. By the time they discover the damage you did you’ll be like the beep-beep Road Runner outta there, over here, you Wile E. Coyote. The buck stops where?
Inherit the Wind (1960) She’s on the creationist side of the half-century resolved Scopes Monkey Trial; But then decides it’s OK if Alaskan school board reps don’t want creationism to be taught in schools. Can’t we just all get along? She shrills.
