Oliver North, who met with Noriega's representative, described the meeting in an August 23, 1986 e-mail message to Reagan National Security Advisor, John Poindexter. "You will recall that over the years Manuel Noriega, in Panama, and I have developed a fairly good relationship."
During the 1980s, America's streets were awash in cocaine. Was it just a coincidence? At Oliver North's Senate testimony, a man in the gallery held up a sign with a simple question: "Ask about Cocaine." The man was whisked out of the chamber and North was not asked about cocaine. Was Noriega heavily involved in the drug business? Sure he was, but was he alone in the drug business? What do you think?
Why would a loyal friend of the American government so suddenly be vilified? Was his country bombed and invaded because he was in the drug business or because he could name names? Noriega was thrown under the bus to silence him.
Is Ahmed Wali Karzai, the brother of the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, a CIA agent? Is Ahmed Wali Karzai one of the largest drug traffickers in Afghanistan? Despite vehement denials, if history is our guide, the answer is probably, oh, hell yes.
