So what the 2008 election has given us is of a President who prizes empathy, tolerance, and an unfettered search for truth, pitted against country awash in "me-first" intolerance where empathy has become a dirty word (remember the Sotomayor hearings?) and many people seem to think they know the truth and are no longer searching for it. I guess what this book should remind us is that this empathetic, tolerant and intellectually curious President and the people who agree with him did WIN this election. Why is it we still don't feel like a majority?
