The Supreme Court has ordered Haqqani to come back to Pakistan. The chief justice observed that when Haqqani was leaving Pakistan, he had assured the court that he will come back within a period of four days if summoned by the court. On April 19, a petition was submitted in the Supreme Court to arrest Haqqani through Interpol for his refusal to return to Pakistan.
Memogate is really just a byword for a much bigger and complex game of power politics in Pakistan. In another recent conspiracy, effort was made to damage the image of the Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry who has given many verdicts against the US-client corrupt government of President Zardari.
The scandal was revealed by a renowned journalist, Shaheen Sehbai who said that Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry's son Dr. Arsalan was trapped in the conspiracy by giving around Rs400 million ($4 million) by Malik Riaz, a business tycoon close to President Zardari. On June 6, Chief Justice took a suo moto notice against his own son Arsalan Iftikhar and Bahria Town's Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain. The court hearing is now underway against both.
