I think I'd like to close by reiterating one of the basic themes in my book -- that one can be productive and lead a meaningful life at any age. It is important to have a goal, something you want to accomplish, a reason to get out of bed every day. It doesn't have to be political action, as my grannies and I are engaged in. It can be any number of things -- knitting, playing an instrument, volunteering as a teacher's aide, writing poetry, gardening, a book club, auditing college courses -- as long as it is something you feel passionate about. That way, you will stay young and savor life no matter what age you are.
Thank you so much for talking with me, Joan. It was such a pleasure. You and your group are an inspiration. Good luck with Grandmothers Against the War. We're rooting for your success!
