White evangelical born agains voted 74 to 24% for McCain and made up 26% of voters-- so, 19% of voters were McCain Evangelicals.

Gun Owners voted 62 to 37% McCain. Non-gun-owners voted 65 to 33% for Obama.

Obama didn't just take back red states in a small way. He won with big margins in Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Iowa and sturdy four and five percent margins, far bigger than Bush won, in Florida, Ohio and Virginia.

But Republicans held on to more senate seats than expected or hoped for. That may be a relief to the Democratic senate leadership. Expectations will be lowered. They won't have to pass some of the tougher legislation, like funding the war, reversing the executive powers Bush grabbed, drastically pruning the patriot act of its most egregious anti-democracy offenses, dealing with the debt, with the energy crisis...
