Is money truly the best determinant for judging humanity?  Is survival to always go to the most ruthless and selfish?   What kind of future will be build for ourselves, if so.

It’s almost bromidic to say the system failed Harry Kenney.  Yes, there were Federal health resources he could have accessed, after he jumped through all the necessary hoops, but those hoops are created for people without clinical depression.   Harry should have been receiving help for his depression since childhood.  That alone would have permitted him to seek out help for his pain episodes long, long ago.

The only reason for government to exist is to create an even playing field for its citizens.  The toxic rich like Cheney talk a good game about “fairness” when they bitch about “unfair taxes on the wealthy” but suddenly the world becomes inherently dog-eat-dog when we ask about tax breaks for the wealthy.   People like Cheney call the poor and middle class “the eaters” … those who ostensibly “feed off society,” even though we work an average of ten hours a day while many of the very rich only have jobs as a distraction and then only because their social positions got them the jobs in the first place.   They are the feeders off the largesse of good fortune but what do they bring to the table in terms of real human worth?   If we must be forced to sort the human wheat from the chaff, surely we ought to consider integrity before wealth.

I would never wish one person dead  over another, but if Dick Cheney and Harry Kenney were both drowning and I could only save one, I know for damned sure which one I’d save.

And that’s the whole reason for government … to make that decision unnecessary.  If the toxic rich in their fascist daydream won’t allow us a sane, democratic government for all, perhaps we have no other choice except to swim out and only save our own, one by one.  And that in itself would be a tragedy.
