Also keep in mind that the rate is only fifty-percent. If we agree that earning a million a year is at least adequate if not superb, then someone earning $5 million gets to keep $2.5 million or someone that makes $10 million gets to keep five-million-dollars! (Give me just $5 million, once, and you will never hear another peep from me! I'll even register as a Republican if that's what it takes. Or a Democrat, since there is no difference. I'll even listen to Rush if I have to. Okay, the first two maybe, but there's no amount of money someone can offer me to listen to Rush. Sorry, we may all be whores, but most of us have our conditions and limits too.)
Can a CEO that makes $800 Million in one year NOT be satisfied with take home pay of four-hundred-million? Additionally, can that CEO not understand that the vast majority of American working-class Citizens would not understand why he could not understand why four-hundred-million-dollars for one year is not enough for him?
Consider this statement: "God, how can people expect me to live on four-hundred-million-dollars a year?" It looks ridiculous on paper and probably even sounds more ridiculous, even if uttered by James Earl Jones or in a pleasant Australian accent like Rupert Murdoch's. Consider it, however, because the people that believe this are, ludicrously, also in the positions with the least amount of actual work. They're not digging holes or scooping poop; they're playing golf and having champagne lunches and calling it work. They probably make millions with one finger pressing "enter" on a keyboard and it's most likely not even their own finger! To further insult working class Americans, it's probably a finger of someone brought over from India. Or more realistically, on a keyboard in India.
It's much more likely, however, that the Department of Defense would be inundated with sales pitches promoting special offers: Buy one finely knitted sweater for the low, low price of only twenty-billion-dollars and with each purchase receive a complimentary 500-pound bomb. As an added benefit no Pentagon employee would ever be chilly again.
Despite the probable realities, if these measures were undertaken, by true leaders, then America's majority, its backbone of working class Citizens that love our country, believe in our Constitution and are willing to serve and sacrifice almost anything to preserve freedom, democracy and our great Nation would have some shred of hope that the United States of America will have a viable future and will not become history within our lifetime.
