In short, the Democratic leadership has had the numbers for two years to impeach and has not done so.
World Net continues, “The poll indicated 69 percent of Democrats favored impeaching Bush while just 13 percent of Republicans showed support. Among independents, 50 percent wanted to impeach the president. The study was based on telephone calls July 3-5. American Research Group said 933 of the people interviewed were registered voters. With a simple majority vote, the House can impeach presidents and vice presidents for ‘treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.’ Conviction and removal from office requires a two-thirds majority vote by the Senate.”
IMPEACHMENT NOWAs the 2008 Presidential campaign goes into full steam, only these 2 topics--the badly run U.S. economy and the ongoing wars in Asia--seem to be more important to many Americans than the singular topic of overseeing that some sort of impeachment and public prosecution/investigation of Vice President Cheney and President Bush be undertaken.
I would suggest that as of now there should be a voter test of sorts for both incumbents and new candidates for federal office this autumn. The test questions should be around the topic of impeachment (as well as the war and economy).
Incumbents in the House of Representatives need to impeach (or call for it) soon.
Those who want office need to call for impeachment now.
If the candidate doesn’t do so, he or she is to be seen by the voter as failing part 1 of a 3-part test.
Three strikes and you are out.Basta!
