Not only do we want peace in our homes, we want peace in our country and world. Republicans refuse to compromise with Obama and Congressional Democrats. Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said, "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." This is not creating Shalom Bayit. Neither are false accusations from many Republicans who say Obama isn't a U.S. citizen, that he is Muslim (so what if was Muslim?) and liken him to Hitler. Obama is a U.S. citizen, he is Christian and he has done nothing comparable to Hitler. This lashon hara -- slandering and fear-mongering -- must stop.
Moderate Republicans who are open to compromise are an important voice. However, the party has gone too far to the right. Obama supports Israel just as much as Romney. Obama, however, goes further. His decisions and leadership outlined above line up more consistently with Jewish values. I believe re-electing President Obama is in the best interest of the Jewish community and our country.
