Tell us a little about CMD. How long has it been operating and what's its mission?
The Center for Media and Democracy is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit organization that investigated and counters spin by corporations, industries and government agencies that affect our health, liberty, security, economic opportunities, environment and vitality of the democratic process.
We figure that meant we needed to turn a critical eye to one of the biggest, and least understood, actions by the federal government in generations. For more on our work, please visit prwatch.org.
That mission description certainly gives you a lot to work on. What about you, Conor? How did you get hooked up with CMD?
I've worked for CMD on a couple of research projects on their SourceWatch.org site and am now a graduate student in public policy at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas in Austin. I like long walks on the beach and reading Federal Reserve balance sheets.
Hmmm: long walks and balance sheets. Very yin and yang. Anything you'd like to add before we close, Conor?
Just that I never thought I'd start saying that a billion dollars was not a lot of money. Educate yourselves and take action accordingly! Peace.
I hope your report gets a lot of attention, Conor. Thanks for talking with me. And good luck to you.
