So What are Unions Going to Do to Fight Glenn Beck?

You can't fight something with nothing. The unions demand "jobs, jobs, jobs", but what is their actual program? Their program is to follow the Democrats, and the Democratic program seems to be to make the world safe again for Goldman Sachs. Trillions upon trillions are given to Wall Street, but the idea that the government would hire workers directly as FDR did during the '30s is never even discussed.

On October 2, 2010 the NAACP and the unions will be holding a "One Nation" rally in DC. No doubt its numbers will be carefully compared with Beck's rally.

If "One Nation" is nothing more than a cheer rally for this fall's crop of lesser-evil politicians, it won't bring out hundreds of thousands and it will be meaningless. We need a jobs program with a little fire.

What we need to do is follow the call of the New Haven Central Labor Council and insist that the U.S. spend a trillion dollars on "government jobs" in production, transportation, and education. On the site www.EconomicUprising.8k.com I have a modest plan to raise a trillion and spend it on "public enterprise". I think it's a basis for a Fight Beck Fightback.
