This constant hallelujah chorus creates the self-indulgence and the self-righteousness that make it practically impossible to get North Americans to see what the rest of the world is like. The rest of the world just doesn't exist to them, except once in a while as a terrorist and under-civilized country that would be better off if it adopted North American values. What the neocons mean by installing democracy and freedom in the Middle East is simply making them more like U.S. citizens and the ultimate goal is getting the whole world to adopt 'American values'. Those 'values' include superficiality, self-indulgence, truth-denying fundamentalist Christian religion, combined with the worship of Mammon, bigotry and self-righteousness. And, above all, let's not forget about consumerism which is taking the place of intellectual fulfillment and love of the natural things that the earth provides us with. All of this is what the regressive regime in the U.S. is now busy destroying, and the endgame will be disastrous for the whole planet. The unbelievably shortsighted men at the helm of the United States' corporate government consider nothing but their own selfish profit at whatever the cost will be.

Lies and trickery are their tools and the future is seemingly of no interest for these psychopaths. Propaganda is the foremost means, superbly implemented by the lying mass media, to indoctrinate the whole nation, and the rest of the world as well, into believing that we are in the midst of a holy war on terror and that losing it would be the end of civilization.
