Obama needs to destroy the prevailing Political Narrative by attaching corruption and immorality to the McCain-Palin ticket. When voters see a McCain-Palin bumper sticker they must think: "Divorce and Parental Neglect." There are rumors that Sarah Palin had an affair with her husband's business partner. If true, this needs to be tied to Sarah Palin. Without it, Democrats can still tie her to parental neglect because of the pregnancy of her 17-year-old daughter.
When the McCain-Palin ticket becomes the "Divorce and Parental Neglect" ticket, Democrats will be flying high. McCain and Palin signs and bumper stickers will be less prevalent. There is no other front in this presidential campaign. Wherever possible, Democrats should remind voters that Republicans gave us Mark Foley, Ted Haggard and Larry Craig.
There's plenty of opportunity to tie corruption to the McCain-Palin ticket, but sexual/family immorality is far more persuasive than corruption.
For those who think this argument advocates a low blow, please read my long defense here. Also, remember we are talking about words compared to actual policies and real life consequences of a McCain presidency. What needs to be weighed is the impact on the lives of millions of Americans of said presidency versus the impact of this sort of campaign on John McCain and Sarah Palin's feelings, who both have it pretty good. It's all strategy. Someone needs to argue for it.
