These laws should be part of one bill. This is something the dems need to do to cover their butts. The dem leadership who allowed passage in the house and senate of bills that failed to include oversight and accountability are guilty of legislative malpractice, they were so incompetent. They should clean up their mess ASAP. I can't imagine the GOP side of the aisle opposing these rules.

The congress was punked by Paulson, Bernanke and Bush. But they still have the power to clean up the incredibly sloppy disaster they allowed to happen. If they fail to do so, because it's holiday time, because it's such a short time until Obama takes over and the 111th congress begins, they'll be failing the American people bigtime. We deserve better. These are treacherous times that require dramatic, big thinking and actions. Are the members of congress up to them?

A few declarations.
-While I'm registered as a Democrat, I consider myself to be a dynamic critic of the Democratic party, just as, well, not quite as much, but almost as much as I am a critic of republicans.
