He asked for my telephone number in quite a serious tone, and carefully repeated it twice slowly, and said two or three times with emphasis that he would call me. He got my name wrong and when I corrected him, Conyers said, "I'm sorry"-. Putting great intention in his voice, insisted. He asked me where I was and when I answered New York City, I apologized for not being in his Michigan constituency,

"I don't care, that's perfectly all right."
"I'm going to call you and talk some more."-

He had earlier mentioned that he liked to answer his phone himself.

Just thought OpEdNews readers and others might like to know how worthwhile it is to call Conyers.  I have few illusions, and know that this important committee chairman has the pressure of the whole establishment on him, but I got the impression that if enough callers could hit him in the gut, either directly with Conyers or his secretary picking up and listening, or by leaving polite but devastating voice mail messages, just maybe, just maybe mind you, Conyers might be vulnerable to be made to feel a little of the complicity in the murder of our brothers and sisters overseas that we activists feel deep in pit of our stomachs all the time.

Happy about VFP and other OpEdNews writers efforts,

Repeating the Veterans For Peace ACTION ALERT

TELL CONYERS TO MEET WITH VETERANS FOR PEACE.
Call Representative John Conyers - Jay Janson suggests telling him that at this point he, John Conyers blocking impeachment, is guiltier than anyone, Bush, Pelosi etc., for tomorrow's deaths and maiming of Iraqis. Telephone: 202-225-5126

John Conyers is guiltier than anyone, even Bush and Pelosi if he continues to block impeachment. Call Representative Conyers (202-225-5126) For with an impeachment, the wars would end and many of our Iraqi brothers and sisters would not be killed during the ongoing U.S. occupation war. Call! Whether or not Conyers calls me back, I will call him again!

Call Conyers! 'Just Do It!' Remember, he needs our calls to help him justify swimming against the power elite tide for us.
