It was 4 years ago that the court upheld the finding of liability against Fr. Whelan and the Catholic Salesians of San Francisco, and the man is still appearing on television for a show that was shown long after he lost the civil trial for sexual abuse. Not only that, but he is identified on the program as a "Reverend". The program also states that the show on the sacred wine first appeared in 2009, a year after the final court jury decision against Fr. Whelan was upheld in Supreme High Court.
Note to California Bountiful Foundation: If you produce a public film and use a priest as an expert on your documentary, it would be prudent to at least "google" his name beforehand. Fr. Whelan's loss in court for molestation is plastered all over the internet.
But the program is constantly being replayed on television still, and it is available to be downloaded, without any regard to the apparent lack of remorse by the Catholic Church, nor for the shame and disgrace it is perceived to exude by abuse victims.
Witnessing the face of the man who sexually assaulted me talking confidently about spirituality and the purity of the sacramental wine, intensifies the childhood clergy abuse story to an even higher level of continued debauchery.
My first inclination was to contact the callous Catholic Diocese, and California Bounty to express my concern for their ludicrous behavior. However, previous attempts by me at notifying the Vatican of the shame and disgrace of the Catholic Church in handling their sex abuse crisis have always fell on deaf ears.
At some point in time, perhaps the San Antonio Winery or the California Bountiful producers will realize that it is not a good public relations move to allow a clergy sex abuser to represent them, and they will hopefully be considerate of the children in this world who have had their youthful innocence stolen from them by unconscionable molesters.
And if there is a "God", maybe he too has had enough of the insensitive conduct of the Catholic Church, and there would be some divine intervention. Although I doubt it, it's probably wishful thinking at best. I will state for the record, that I will not be supporting San Antonio Winery in the future, nor will I never forget what Fr. Whelan, the San Francisco Diocese, and the Catholic Church are capable of doing.
