The United States cannot survive as a “service based” economy. It is imperative that the Obama administration understand that we must quit relying on cheap foreign imports and revitalize our core industries - and to do less is to guarantee our eventual downfall. President-Elect Obama stated in several of his campaign speeches that Americans will be called upon to sacrifice, and I’m hoping that the Obama team understands that when our economy is tanking, Americans should reinvent our manufacturing sector and make it a matter of patriotism to “buy American.” In this case, the best price is not the best deal, and in order to rebuild this nation, we must revitalize our manufacturing capability and manufacture the bulk of our goods at home, not abroad.

Outsourcing, corporate greed, the Iraq War and Wall Street’s failures to protect the American people are the reasons our economy is failing. Without revitalizing our manufacturing sector and choosing the lowest priced goods we can import is destroying every segment of our economy, and with that comes a serious breach of our national security. The road ahead is rocky and uphill, however, if we choose the easy way out - it might be time to begin teaching Chinese to our children so they can exist in a nation that has sold it’s soul to those who smile like they are friends, but whose ultimate goal is to destroy the America we have fought and died for throughout our history.

Start enforcing our anti-trust laws, stop outsourcing what little industry we have left, bring back our manufacturing sector, and most importantly, understand that buying American is the only way to rebuild the economy of the United States. We face a daunting challenge, but in the words of President-Elect Obama, “YES WE CAN!”
