Barbara Marx Hubbard has been called "the voice for conscious evolution of our time" by Deepak Chopra and is the subject of Neale Donald Walsch's new book "The Mother of Invention." A prolific author, visionary, social innovator, evolutionary thinker and educator, she is co-founder and chairperson of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution. She is the producer and narrator of the award-winning documentary series entitled Humanity Ascending: A New Way Through Together. She has recently partnered with The Shift Network as a global ambassador for the conscious evolution movement; a shift from evolution by chance towards evolution by choice. Along with Stephen Dinan, she has launched the "Agents of Conscious Evolution" training and is forming a global team to co-produce a global multi-media event entitled, "Birth 2012: Co-Creating a Planetary Shift in Time" on Dec. 22, 2012 (www.birth2012.com) -- a historic, turning-point event; awakening the social, spiritual, scientific, and technological potential of humanity.
In 1984 her name was placed in nomination for the Vice Presidency of the United States on the Democratic ticket, calling for a "Peace Room" to scan for, map, connect and communicate what is working in America and the world. Barbara also co-chaired a number of Soviet- American Citizen Summits, introducing a new concept called "SYNCON to foster synergistic convergence with opposing groups. She developed SYNCON conferences to bring together opposing forces to discover the positive benefit of a long range earth-space development program where she worked with builders of the Space Shuttle and continued her passion for an expanded and peace generating space program.
The primary emphasis of "Ole Mother Hubbard's" teachings is about the evolution of consciousness, as reflected in the "Shift Network's" mission statement which reads as follows:
The Shift Network empowers a global movement of people who are creating an evolutionary shift of consciousness that in turn leads to a more enlightened society, one built on principles of peace, sustainability, health, and prosperity.
Hubbard's life was honored in a documentary produced by Karen Everett titled Bold Mother Hubbard. Regarding this documentary, the introduction to the interview of Everett on the on-line radio show, Envision This states:
The film documents Barbara's heroic efforts to inspire 100 million participants to celebrate and "gentle" the birth of a new humanity, shifting the violent scenario predicted by doomsdayers at the close of the iconic Mayan calendar. Hubbard integrates this potential of human evolution with the Mayan 2012 prophesies which, according to many, are simply a reflection of a movement of our Sun in relationship to another star that may be producing more energy upon our planet. Some of the evidence that this shift may be happening is in our movements such as the Shift Networks, the integrations of mythologies throughout the world which are reflected in works of psychiatrist Carl Jung and mythologist Joseph Campbell. It is also reflected within movements such as the 99% protests and the increasing realization that we are entering a multidimensional time of crisis, that includes political, ecological, economic, personal, social and planetary arenas. As these crises converge, we have entered a state of mega-crisis. According to the Chinese insignia for the term "crisis" literally means "dangerous opportunity."
Dare we take this opportunity?
Our conditioning and noisy minds mitigate against our readiness to venture forth into such unexplored territories of the soul. It is very much like our seeing only the surface level waves of the Ocean until we suddenly discover we are being swept along by her underlying currents, which could be likened to the movements of history and destiny. Yet, beneath those currents there is a stillness, a calm, a peacefulness that is beyond comprehension. Ultimately, we are held safe within our Mother's womb.
Mirroring that stillness in the depths of space, the astronauts oftentimes had deep spiritual experiences as they gazed back upon the face of the Earth. Could it be that our sailing high into the expanses of space mirrors the dive into the depths of the psychic Ocean? "As above, so below." Thus, at the deepest (and simultaneously highest) level of consciousness, can we move beyond opposites as being more than warring factions of this vs that? Could it be that we can evolve beyond the "parent against child," " man against woman", and "left against right" that Native American Chief Seattle spoke about regarding the Western trend of dualistic thinking?
Can we evolve the "New Jerusalem" or "Place of Peace" from within ourselves instead of waiting for Her to descend from some external God?
