A minute thirty is all it takes.

When he finished, I was a mess. So were the other 30 or so in the audience, many of whom are not musicians and who were a f’d up as me. Because you do not have to know music to recognize the truth when it smiles.

I walked to the mic as Nathan made his way back to his seat, everyone still spellbound silent. As I grabbed the mic, I stopped because I was crying. Good tears. The kind that come from way down. Got a grip and said “Nathan, dude, thank you. That was off the hook”. The audience went nuts and Nathan had a smile that he invented all by himself. And we noticed.

It only took a minute thirty.
