This was all twenty five years ago, wasn't it? A decade of meddling, of billions dollars spent and thousands of innocents murdered. The ruling elite persevere except in Venezuela, under Plan Colombia the son a former drug trafficker and former mayor of Medellin becomes President of Colombia and administers $1.3 billion sent by the Clinton administration. Yes, the Democrats were now in charge and the times they were a changing, under the liberal Clinton less than 1 percent of the money was spent on economic or social reform but was spent instead on US military hardware. Let's see, where do we place Bill Clinton on the liberal scale? Was he to the left of Roosevelt? No. To the left of of Truman or Eisenhower? No. To the left of Carter? No. Well, then he had to be to the left of Nixon. Nope, Clinton was further to the right than even tricky Dick Nixon. Clinton's welfare reform program would have upset even Richard Nixon.

All part of the gradual shift to the right politically. Want to take a guess at who was a big supporter of plan Colombia in the Senate? Senator Joseph Biden advocated a hard line approach, damn liberals! Brother Joe was also a big supporter of the 2005 bankruptcy reform officially known as "Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005."

So we found ourselves in 2000 with a stopped Presidential election recount and another decade of meddling and of war. Lies and phony pretexts for war which few ever question. This time, in the Middle East, still supporting dictators called Presidents and opposing insurgents otherwise known as locals. We are spoon fed propaganda on a daily basis. Opium production in Afghanistan under the Taliban had been virtually eliminated, but today under the CIA, I mean, under President Karzai production is at the maximum feasible level for market conditions.

You can go on almost forever, Saddam was a good guy until he was turned bad guy. He invaded Kuwait after the US Ambassador told him his relationship with his neighbors was of no interest to the US. Was our Ambassador stupid? Or was Saddam sandbagged? Ten years of Iraqi oil taken off the open market, now who benefits from that?

So if Clinton was to the right of Nixon, is Obama to the left of Clinton? No, Obama is to the right of Clinton. Obama supports tort reform, and tax cuts for big business. Michelle Obama plants an organic garden at the White House while her husband appoints Monsanto executives for the Agriculture department. The administration has turned the domestic economy over to the Federal Reserve and Fortune 500 CEO's work on advisory committees inside the White House. The Defense Secretary Robert Gates is a hold over from the Bush administration.

Just who is Robert Gates? I thought that you'd never ask, Gates served as a member of the Central Intelligence Agency since 1966. Gates took the job to serve on the National Security Council in 1974 but returned to the agency in 1979. He was promoted to Deputy Director of Central Intelligence in 1981. Gee, that's when the airplanes began to crash in Central America. Gates served as deputy Director of the CIA until 1986.

Isn't that a coincidence, 1986 was when the year news of the Iran Contra arms sales made headlines.

The final report of the Independent Counsel for Iran-Contra Scandal, issued on August 4, 1993, said that Gates "was close to many figures who played significant roles in the Iran/contra affair and was in a position to have known of their activities." What did Gates know and when did he know it remains a mystery because Robert Gates was to be promoted, he was nominated to be the director of the CIA by Bush the elder. His actions in the Iran-Contra scandal scuttled his promotion but it is clear that Gates was a moving force in the operation. Gates had sent  memos to the White House in 1985 advocating that the administration sell arms to Iran during the Iran-Iraq war. In 1991 Gates finally got his promotion to become Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Tie these disparate threads, all of these strange coincidences together. Add in Iraq, Afghanistan, Mexico, Wallace and Wellstone. Consider Robert Gates has served on the boards of Parker Drilling Company, a leading provider of contract oil drilling services in the Gulf of Mexico. He also served on the board of  NACCO (The North American Coal Corporation) and SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) with ties to the Defense Department and Vote Here computer software.

You are left with an ugly fabric, not so much of left and right but of deep corporate ties. In December of last year the department of Homeland Security began a partnership program with Wal-Mart. In store TV screens asking shoppers, to report suspicious activity to a Wal-Mart manager. It becomes absurd and beyond absurd. Mass media which parrots the official government line or counter to the government line. Take for example all the Fox news has said about Barack Obama, have they ever mentioned that he's further to the right politically than Ronald Reagan? Or that his support for the wars is identical to George W. Bush?

It is professional wrestling politics, it is Orwell's "1984" come to flesh. The truth is a lie and a lie is the truth.

Fox News -" Unemployment Rate Drops Sharply
Washington Post - Unemployment rate plunges to 9% in January, but only 36,000 jobs added
Yahoo News (AP) - Unemployment falls to 9 percent, lowest since 2009
Bloomberg -" Jobless Rate in US Drops to 9%; Storms Limit Gains in Payrolls

The employment to population ratio is a measurement used to gauge what percentage of the population which is employed. So forget for a moment that 36,000 jobs created isn't enough to tread water. The employment to population ration for January of this year is 57.6 percent. That is the lowest number on record since "1984". The Number of Americans listed as employed and counted in thousands is 137,599 that number is lower than April of 2000, the number is eight million workers lower than July of 2008 and two and a half million lower than July of 2010. Yet they claim that unemployment is falling?

The number of Americans unemployed for fifteen weeks or longer is at the highest level on record since "1984" The number of Americans losing their jobs in January is at the highest level on record since "1984" The unadjusted seasonal unemployment rate for January is  9.8 percent, up from last months non seasonally adjusted rate 9.1 percent.

The U-4  special unadjusted unemployment rate for January is 10.4 percent up from last months 10.3 percent.

The U-5 special unadjusted unemployment rate which includes marginally attached workers was 11.4 percent in January up from December's 10.7 percent.

I who am I? Born at the pinnacle of American prosperity to parents raised during the last great depression. I was the youngest child of the youngest children born almost between the generations and that in fact clouds and obscures who it is that (more...)
