I'm trying, by God, to weed out every impediment to my carefully built credit history, and get back a rating that once more must be more than adequate.

Bank of America told me instantly that I likely pre-qualified for an Obama plan 4.5% interest rate to re-finance my current debt. But I haven't heard anything from them in the five days afterward. So, I must have done some things right along the way.

Are you working? I am. A private contractor, I offer my knowledge of food and beverage, theater, art, and whatever I've worked at over the past fifty of fifty-eight years of my life.

I've got not one - but two - degrees. A Bachelor's in the liberal arts in Theater from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, 1975,with enough hours in music to declare a minor.

That same year, at the faculty's suggestion I tossed my hat into the ring, so as to be listed with details in "Who's Who Among American College and University Students" after being declared the Theater Department Senior of the year.

I went on, later in life, to a Master of Fine Arts degree in the same field from the prestigious University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mainly, I scene-painted, designed scenery, and saw to the construction and lighting as well.

Experience?

Hell, first I was the Scenic Designer/Technical Director at the Raleigh Little Theater - the oldest and most renowned community theater in the land. Was I their first choice?

Yes.

Add that to professional experience on the dinner theater circuit, and my work history begins to seem like it goes back to Vaudeville. But, believe me, I'm not quite that old!

Yes, I know all about Cagney and even Jolson - and have performed many a piece in song and dance in their style.

Perhaps I'm an anachronism - a silly and over-educated man out of time and place, now in a make-do job trying to get a leg up on things, like so many others..

But then, perhaps our entire system is outdated along with the ideas of saving money and investing, and continuing, life-long education.

Too many times, over the years, I was told that I was over-qualified for a position I sought, and simply ovr-educated.

How can anyone be over educated?

That's like saying you can get too much chocolate, or be too slender in this age of super-models - or have too much money!
