The government has no obligation to ensure that insurance companies flourish by continuing to rip off the American people and even the government itself. Instead, the government needs to lead the way to provide universal, equitable and affordable health care to its citizens.
Believe it or not, there is nothing magic about the "private sector." The private sector obviously cannot provide health care any more than it can replace the Army, Navy, and Air Force and Marines.
For starters, U. S. senators should require that every single lobbyist, in order to gain an audience, provide proof-positive that any sort of private health care plan can deliver what the citizens demand.
Those Americans polled who do not want a single-payer/public option health care system number about the same as those people who approved of George W. Bush during his final year or two in office no higher than 28 percent.
Even Republicans are fed up with the current state of health care in the United States.
No political candidate at either the state of federal level Democrat or Republican should be eligible for election to office without first signing a pledge to champion a single-payer health care system.
Any Democrat who cries for a "bipartisan health care bill" has to be either a coward or corrupted to the extent of taking bribes.
Any Republican who uses "bipartisan" as a wedge to obstruct true health care reform is either putting their party before the public good or corrupted to the extent of taking bribes.
No candidate deserves our vote unless they get this issue right.
