According to HR 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007, the Internet is guilty of promoting terrorism, and is subject to sentencing by Congressional committee.

HR 1955 can be found in its entirety by clicking this link: HR 1955 text. While reading this bill, it occurred to me that one of the main thrusts of the bill, as indicated in the following excerpt, is to declare the Internet guilty of promoting terrorism, and to lay the foundation for sentencing. Please pay careful attention to numbers 2 and 3:

SEC. 899B. FINDINGS

The Congress finds the following:

1. The development and implementation of methods and processes that can be utilized to prevent violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence in the United States is critical to combating domestic terrorism.

2. The promotion of violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence exists in the United States and poses a threat to homeland security.

3. The Internet has aided in facilitating violent radicalization, ideologically based violence, and the homegrown terrorism process in the United States by providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda to United States citizens.

4. While the United States must continue its vigilant efforts to combat international terrorism, it must also strengthen efforts to combat the threat posed by homegrown terrorists based and operating within the United States.

5. Understanding the motivational factors that lead to violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence is a vital step toward eradicating these threats in the United States.

Let's go through the bill, starting with items 2 and 3, listed above:

The promotion of violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence exists in the United States and poses a threat to homeland security. The Internet has aided in facilitating violent radicalization, ideologically based violence, and the homegrown terrorism process in the United States by providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda to United States citizens.

The Internet is charged with promoting violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence, which poses a threat to homeland security, and has been found guilty as charged.

HR 1955 then goes on to determine sentencing by creating a commission that shall be "established within the legislative branch of the Government: the National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism" (HR 1955 Section 899C(a)). This Commission is composed of 10 members, appointed for the life of the Commission. The Commission shall:

Not later than 18 months after the date on which the Commission first meets...submit to the President and Congress a final report of its findings and conclusions, legislative recommendations for immediate and long-term countermeasures to violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence, and measures that can be taken to prevent violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence from developing and spreading within the United States...
(HR 1955 Section 899C(q)).

Section 899D of HR 1955 then creates "a university-based Center of Excellence for the Study of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism in the United States (hereinafter referred to as 'Center')" (HR 1955 Section 899D (a)), to establish a method for carrying out the sentence recommended by the Commission. The Center's purpose shall be

...to study the social, criminal, political, psychological, and economic roots of violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism in the United States and methods that can be utilized by Federal, State, local, and tribal homeland security officials to mitigate violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism (HR 1955 Section 899D (b)).

There is only one way

It does sound a little illogical but the only way to confront this is to accuse the perpetrators of this Bill and the MSM of Communism. I am not kidding. The way those bills are structured reek of the NKVD and the ' Commission' is the ghost of the French Jacobite Committee of the Public Safety of 1793. If this line is adopted by at least one prominent person says it, it will work.

The methodology

of oppression reeks of the previous experience of the oppressors. It also takes advantage of the most horrible ignorance in history. Now, the real populist who really wants to win like Cindy Sheehan for instance would be able very easily to show that our 'protectors' follow the Jacobite- Communist template down tthe details.They just have to- there are no other. And take it or leave it- the only way to fight them is to turn the tables on them- to accuse them of what they want to accuse other people- of being enemies. Would love to expose the elitist agenda

But wouldn't anyone doing this be labeled a "terrorist" and "conspiracy theorist" by the elite and blackballed? Ron Paul has already been smeared by Glenn Beck, as well as his supporters. I would love to see someone expose the entire black core of the elitist agenda on national media outlets, but I believe that we have a ways to go to see that come about.

People call me paranoid ...

Yesterday two so-called friends said they were going to get me a titanium umbrella for X-mass. They keep saying that "it" (fascism) will never happen here and the finality of the New World Order is not going to happen in our lifetime. I have a library of documentary DVD's they refuse to watch that may give them pause.

I have pointed out to them the many acts of creeping fascism have already been enacted without challenge from our supposed defenders of the Constitution, and that in fact those "defenders" are rather enablers of the destruction of what they've sworn to uphold. Yet, what is right before their eyes they refuse to see.

Those that do not think we are on the brink of becoming a total fascist state are either ignorant or living in denial. Living in New Orleans I witnessed first hand what Blackwater has in store for us when the curtain falls. If have a sick feeling that in the months before the election something big is going to occur that will totally flip the switch and 09' will go down as the exclamation point on the demise of what was once the Great Promise of Freedom.

Hubby agrees

Hubby agrees with you that something is in the air. I'm not sure what will happen. After all, the mass media-supported candidates are all cut from the same cloth, so if one of them wins, it will be status-quo. The only thing that would change this is a mass populace uprising. If enough people support an alternate candidate such as Ron Paul, and it becomes glaringly obvious to even the most jaded neocon that the elections are rigged, then just such an uprising might occur. Then would be the time to declare martial law to quell the "domestic terrorists."

This country and fascism

It is very difficult for some people to realize that it could happen here. I am not saying that it is inevitable, but it certainly has started. All one need do is Google W's signing statements, and some of the Patriot Act and subsequent bills that went through Congress in the horror after 9/11 that the MSM kept telling us we should be feeling.

If you don't believe that there is a thread of fascism running through our history since at least 1932, and you don't have time to research a lot of stuff, go to the archives here on OpEd and look up 'Onward, Christian Soldiers.' I wrote and submitted that earlier this year. I am not a professional writer, so forgive the style, please, but read the content. It is not my illusion. I found documentation for everything that I wrote, starting in 1932 up to the present time.

It is truly very frightening.

We've already had fascism

Blacks endured fascism/government sponsored racist terrorism for more than 100 years after Reconstruction. Our private property rights were watered down, and, indeed, "blacks have no rights a white man is bound to respect" was the law of the land. Our land, our property was subject to confiscation by racists who manipulated law and legal documents to get their way and when that didn't work, they ran people off their property or killed then outright. So, for alla ya'll who say this or that can't happen here: fascism, totalitarianism or theocracy, turn to your history books and open your eyes. It is all a matter of degree.

It's all a matter of degree

Well said! The degree of elitist control over the populace is increasing, and unless one really pays attention, it gets right by him/her. For instance, my hubby took a short trip to CA. He packed several DVDs that outline 9/11, government elitist control, etc., and showed them to everyone he knows. They, in turn, made copies and are showing them to everyone they know. They did not have a clue before they saw the videos.

Hubby says that it is amazing that almost everyone he came across is so involved in working to pay their outrageous mortgage payments and fill their gas tanks to get back and forth to work, that they have little time for anything else, much less researching the Internet about something they have no clue about in the first place.

The mass media has been very effective in keeping people in the dark, because this is the only "news" outlet that they have time for after working all day and part of the night to pay bills. Sickening. This is why I believe it is so important to spread the word in any fashion we can, whether by word of mouth, the Internet, DVD, whatever!

Pick Cheney

and arrange for the prominent populist ( take Colbert or Olbermann) to accuse him of instigating the homegrown violence and promoting terrorism by a) spreading hate; b) being unstable and killing or harming living beings; c) making shadowy deals via Haliburton, etc. etc.

Demand the full investigation of Cheney under this premise. Interpret his obscession with control as being a Communist sympathiser ( anyone who wants an excessive control is in fact a Communist sympathiser in the brutal form of it, of course) etc. etc.

There is no other way to fight a battle with madness but with the using its own methodology while we still can. It is like confronting a wounded animal- you cannot use the humanistic method like getting out of the way or standing quite- the wounded beast goes for the kill. They go for the kill and unless the prey turns back at them they will pursue it ( that would be us, the prey) until it is dead.
