The Bodies Under The Floor
My dreams are interrupted
By images of bodies
Under the floor
Their half decomposed faces
Press up against the floorboards
Just beneath my feet
I shudder at the thought
Of them lying there
Staring up at me...
Under the floorboards
Just beneath my feet
I feel guilty
As if I'm to blame
As if I put them there
As if they
Are part
Of a shameful
Secret
A terrible secret
Staring up
At me...
From under the floorboards
Just beneath my feet
I'm terrified
That they
Will begin to move
That their lips
Will curl up
And curse me
For putting them...
Beneath the floorboards
Just under my feet
I wonder
How I can go on living
Knowing they are down there
Waiting
My skin crawls
At the thought of them
All lined up there...
Just beneath my feet!
Under the floorboards!
I lean down
And dare to ask;
"If you dead souls can hear me"
"Please answer me"
"What is it you want?"
"Why do you lie here?"
