Sarah Palin in engaging in tinderbox-politics is a danger to our national security

During and after her interviews with Katie Couric, Kathleen Parker a conservative columnist thought of Palin that she was “out of her league”.  In those interviews, Palin said of the Russian president Vladimir Putin that he “rears his head” as well as not being able to name one newspaper or magazine she has read.  Some called into question whether or not she was in the least curious of the world she lives in. 

Boy were we ever wrong.  I do believe those interviews with Couric were meant to disarm the American people.  In my opinion, she knew what she was doing all along and I do believe her real persona can be found by ginning up the base with her hateful prose directed at Senator Barack Obama.  Quite frankly, she is playing tinderbox-politics as she has touched the third-rail of hate.

One should be very concerned when one man was heard to have said, “Kill him” which was either directed towards Bill Ayers or Barack Obama.  During the RNC, they demonized the media and at one rally as the media was covering it and as reported by Keith Olbermann an African-American cameraman was told to “Sit down boy” by someone in attendance.

In all of my years in politics, I have never come across a political candidate like Palin who is able to stir up the hate as much as she has done recently and she is indeed playing with fire.  Hopefully the affects of her doing so will back-fire on the McCain/Palin ticket.

It may have already, due to the fact that not once did Sen. John McCain bring up her name at last night’s debate.  Was he embarrassed by her remarks?  Was he trying to separate himself from this tinderbox-politics?  If God forbid he is elected president he must be in control his subordinates in order to protect the American people.  He cannot have a vice president shooting off her mouth by using such hateful prose.

Then again he too is engaging in tinderbox-politics by creating an air of mystery when it comes to Senator Barack Obama by asking, “Who is Obama really?”  We must ask, who is McCain really by selecting such a running mate.

Vice presidents are often sent abroad to deal with foreign leaders and to hold crucial talks with them that pertain to our national security and trade.  Do we trust a possible Vice President, Palin who is engaging in this hate to be able to mend the broken relationships that have occurred during these past eight years?

I have seen the same amount of hate coming from people like Ann Coulter, but mark my words, if elected, Palin is far more dangerous than Coulter will ever be since she will be in a position of actual power.

Speaking of Coulter, when she stated "We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens' crème brulee" while speaking to an assembled group at Philander Smith College on January 27, 2006, she disarmed this incendiary remark by stating it was a joke.  I do not buy it given Coulter’s track record.

I have often pointed out of Coulter stating that there are indeed whack-jobs who could carry out her words filled with so much hate and venom.  In Coulter’s us vs. them speeches, a deluded person stands ready to carry out what she has stated in the past.  We have not seen it happen yet, but it can happen.

Another comparison to the hatred of the media is where Ann Coulter once stated, “My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building.”

Given the unstable economy right now, Americans are under increasing pressure and some may be at the breaking point.  Some may want to lash out and Palin is playing a dangerous game.  Again, it is an us vs. them mentality that Palin is also playing with.

She has said of Ayers that he was a domestic terrorist, but in our recent history, we did in fact have a true domestic terrorist who was deluded and pushed to the breaking point in Timothy McVeigh.  McVeigh’s anger at the government resulted in his bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City where 168 innocent people lost their lives.  Can Palin’s divisive speeches create yet another one just as dangerous as Tim McVeigh was?

With some emotions still raw post 9/11, Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott in full uniform specifically mentioned by design Barack Obama’s middle name which is Hussein.  First of all, if that was his purpose to incite hate at that rally, he should not have been in uniform.  Personally, I think he should be punished for doing so.  Second, can this use of Obama’s middle name bring up an anti-Muslim sentiment as was felt shortly after 9/11?  As an officer of the law, he should know better than to use his position of power to gin up the base.  I wonder if law abiding Muslims are now living in fear all over again.

This is a sensitive subject to me since I do have Muslim relatives where my niece and nephew were blatantly harassed after 9/11 in their schools.  Because of this, their parents had to take them out for their own safety.  My niece has suffered from a bi-polar condition because of this harassment.
