Cost of Living

When I was young

I experimented with drugs,

I liked my frequent highs.

But, with all my experimentation

I got no Nobel Prize.

Instead I got Hepatitis C

A touch of H.I.V.,

Diabetes, and I sneeze

When I walk by a tree.

When I lost my job

These diseases came to fruition.

I couldn't get insurance

Because of preexisting conditions.

I was saved by programs

From the State,

Programs run like Medicare--
