(The Cruel Joke)

We think,
therefore we are in the driver's seat.
Such hubris
in the face of Nature.
wields the whip and drives
the hard bargain of survival.

is a cocktail
of collusion and collision.
dance a tango
below the surface of our awareness
where DNA hijacks the conscious mind
and emotion overrides intellect
leaving us helpless,
at the mercy of our genitals
which conduct a "relationship"
with another set of genitals
in service
to the propagation of the species
which we chooose to label
