"Confidence" appeared in 2003. It has a dynamite beginning; excellent stars and supporting cast; and a fast moving, while intelligible, story-line. Even better, there is no car chase, and the version I saw on IFC TV had subtitles* for us old folks, or for anyone whose TV is in a corner and the audio is difficult to hear.
Most of the stars are con-artists, I hope I can say without ruining the plot, because like I mentioned in the Intro, this movie may have inspired--probably did?, doubtless did inspire--the TV series "Burn Notice." In case you haven't read the introduction, above, the four big names are Edward Burns, Rachel Weisz, Dustin Hoffman, and Andy Garcia.
And a fascinating kicker is that one of the Big Four Stars has a debilitating condition, namely Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder; I didn't know it comes in a form other than what I learned was simply A.D.D. But you know those pill pushers and publishers and printers of the Physicians Desk Reference--they add categories like Carter's Has a Liver Condition.
Hopefully, these few words will suffice to alert Burn Notice fans --as well as Burns-Weisz-Hoffman-and/or-Garcia fans--to be on the lookout for the movie on IFC (Independent Film Channel) Television.
