In the last 5 years, the 200 most politically active companies in the US spent $5.8 billion influencing our government with lobbying and campaign contributions. Is it little wonder that the 605 corporate advisers are allowed access to the TPP text, while little transparency is extended to public and members of congress?
Among the most controversial chapters of TPP and TTIP relate to Investor-State-Dispute-Settlement (ISDS) mechanisms, encapsulating the corruption of our entire political system by enabling only foreign corporations to suit governments for claimed lost profits in secret corporate tribunals, with no appeal, which is unprecedented in trade deals.
Crony Capitalism is a form of corruption where Government(s) act to enhance the interest of select corporations, to the detriment of other businesses and communities in general.
