Review of two books: “Secret History of War on Cancer” by Devra Davis, and “Toxic Exposures” by Phil Brown. One examines the historical forces at work when doubt is cast on environmental evidence. The other explores opposing social movements that are struggling to rescue this evidence and to bring about public health policy change based on it. Both should be read together.
