There has been a lot of talk by misguided 'religious fundamentalists' claiming that God has caused the natural disasters and even the man-made atrocities. That has natually prompted mocking statements by progressives that God caused Hurricane Irene to wake up the trouble-making Republicans in Washington D.C. This indicates the need for a rationale, reasonable discussion about the real nature and will of God. For while no one can know fully what that is, this article is one that offers a modern, reasonable view compatible with science, and it can advance our understanding. For while God is real, and totally awesome, God is not a 'Superman Magician' who waves his magic wand to manipulate us and our world. After all, if that were the case, the world would still be like 'Eden,' because God is loving, merciful, understanding and forgiving, like any good Parent.
